UK ESA Register

Emotional support animal registration in the UK

A certificate, a wallet card and a number anyone can check, for £40 once. Before you buy it, here is the part most registries put in the small print.

Before anything else

There is no official UK register, ours included

No government body in the United Kingdom registers emotional support animals. There is no statutory scheme, no application and no list to be accepted onto. Every registry here is a private business keeping its own records, and that is what ours is.

Emotional support animals also have no special status in UK law. The Equality Act 2010 protects disabled people accompanied by trained assistance dogs; an emotional support animal is a different thing and carries no rights of access to housing, shops, transport or anywhere else.

So a registration cannot make a landlord, an airline or a hotel accept your pet. Anyone selling you one on that basis is selling you something that does not exist.

What you actually get

A certificate sized for A4 with your pet’s photo, details and a unique registration number, and a wallet card at true bank-card size carrying the same number and a QR code.

Both arrive by email as separate PDFs within about a minute of paying, so you can print one without touching the other. The number stays checkable at a public page for the life of your pet.

Why it is one payment

Most UK registries charge £30 to £50 every year. Over a dog’s ten-year life that is up to £500 for a database row that costs a fraction of a penny a year to keep.

We charge once. There is no renewal date stored anywhere, because there is not one.

If you are renting, read this instead

If the reason you are looking at registration is a landlord, the registration is not your tool. Since May 2026, section 11 of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 gives every tenant in England the right to formally request a pet, with a written answer required within 28 days and no unreasonable refusal.

That right is free, it belongs to you already, and a well-made written request is how you use it.

What there is to buy

The Certificate£40

Registration, certificate and wallet card. One payment, no renewals, ever. One payment, no renewals.

Not a legal document. UK ESA Register is a private service, not a government body, and no official UK register of emotional support animals exists.

Questions, answered plainly

Will registration give my pet legal rights?
No. Nothing sold by us or by anyone else creates a legal right in the UK, because emotional support animals have no legal status here.
Do I need a letter from a doctor first?
No, and we do not sell one. We ask nothing about your health at any point. In the UK no letter from any professional gives an emotional support animal legal standing.
How long does it take?
About two minutes to fill in, and the documents arrive by email within a minute of paying.
Can I add a photo later?
Yes. Skip it now, email it to us whenever, and we will swap it in and reissue both documents at no charge.

UK ESA Register is a private service and is not a government body. No official register of emotional support animals exists in the United Kingdom, and emotional support animals have no special status in UK law. This certificate is a keepsake and a convenience credential for everyday conversations. It creates no right of access to housing, transport, shops or anywhere else, and nobody is obliged to accept it. In England, the right that actually helps renters is the right to request consent to keep a pet under section 11 of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. UK ESA Register is not a law firm and this page is not legal advice.
